C63.5: C63.5-2006 Electromagnetic Compatibility - Radiated Emission Measurements in Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) Control - Calibration of Antennas (9 kHz to 40 GHz)

Scope: Revision of ANSI C63.5-2004 Methods for determining antenna factors of antennas used for radiated emission measurements of electromagnetic interference (EMI) from 9 kHz to 40 GHz are provided. Antennas included are linearly polarized antennas such as loops, rods (monopoles), tuned dipoles, biconical dipoles, log-periodic dipole arrays, hybrid linearly polarized arrays, broadband horns, etc., which are used in measurements governed by ANSI C63.4-2001. The methods include standard site (i.e., 3-antenna), reference antenna, equivalent capacitance substitution, standard transmitting loop, standard antenna, and standard field methods.

Scope: This Guide would offer guidance to testing laboratories requiring calibration of EMC equipment. It would include technical and reporting requirements of the test equipment to be calibrated. This guide will provide guidance for testing laboratories to appropriately draft purchasing documentation in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025 clause 4.6 “Purchasing services and supplies” and verification of those services upon return to the lab.

Scope: This standard is intended to cover procedures for testing the compliance of a wide variety of unlicensed wireless devices (also called unlicensed intentional radiators) including but not limited to: remote control and security unlicensed wireless devices, frequency hopping and direct sequence spread spectrum devices, anti-pilferage devices, cordless telephones, wireless medical unlicensed wireless devices, Unlicensed National Information Infrastructure devices, intrusion detectors, unlicensed wireless devices operating on frequencies below 30 MHz, automatic vehicle identification systems, and other unlicensed wireless devices authorized by a radio regulatory authority.

C63.11-draft: American National Standard for Inter-lab Comparison EMC Testing

Scope: This Guide would cover procedures for undertaking an EMC Inter-laboratory Comparison Program. It would include emission, radiated and power line conducted, artifacts; recommended frequency ranges of interest; and recommend acceptance criteria. The Guide would provide examples based on actual test results generated with a series of C63 artifacts. This Guide will use a similar structure to ISO/IEC 17043 (Conformity Assessment – General Requirements for Proficiency Testing) but it would be narrowly focused on EMC artifacts only. The Guide would cover both administrative and technical aspects of conducted and radiated emission testing. It will include measurement uncertainty and acceptance criteria.

C63.12: C63.12-2007 American National Standard for Electromagnetic Compatibility Limits-- Recommended Practice

Scope: This recommended practice presents a rationale for developing limits and recommends sets of limits that are representative of current practice. These limits may be adjusted in particular applications as circumstances dictate.

C63.13: C63.13-1991 American National Standard Guide on the Application and Evaluation of EMI Power-Line Filters for Commercial Use

Scope: A basic understanding of the application, evaluation, and safety considerations of electromagnetic interference (EMI) power-line filters used in both AC and DC applications is provided. The construction of an EMI power-line filter and its functions in providing suppression of conducted noise are described. The functions and performance of the filter components, particularly the capacitors and inductors, are discussed. It is explained why seemingly identical filters may not give the same performance in a particular application. No-load insertion-loss test methods are presented. Proper installation of the filters in equipment is discussed. Safety regulations are briefly addressed.

C63.15: C63.15-2010 American National Standard Recommended Practice for the Immunity Measurement of Electrical and Electronic Equipment

Scope: This immunity measurement and measurement instrumentation specification document complements the recommended procedures for making emission measurements as specified in ANSI C63.4. The immunity methods are alternative methods that might be of use to manufacturers who want to ensure a reliable product and reduce customer complaints by adding some additional immunity into their products beyond that required by law or by correcting problems experienced in the field not related to regulatory requirements. This document generally covers the frequency range of 30 Hz to 10 GHz.

C63.16: C63.16-1993 American National Standard Guide for Electrostatic Discharge Test Methodologies and Criteria for Electronic Equipment

Scope: Based upon ESD events on electronic equipment in actual-use environments, a process to establish ESD test criteria is provided. Test procedures for highly repeatable ESD immunity evaluation of tabletop and floor-standing equipment are described. Simulator characteristics for hand/metal and furniture ESD testing are specified both for air and contact discharge methods. Statistical criteria is given to determine the number of test trials required, based on the confidence factor desired and various pass/fail categories. This ANSI ESD guide has been harmonized with other international ESD standards except where other standards have technical approaches that would reduce equipment quality or result in degraded product operation.

C63.18: C63.18-1997 On-site, Ad-Hoc Test Method for Estimating Radiated Electromagnetic Immunity of Medical Devices to Specific Radio Frequency Transmitters

It applies to medical devices used in health-care facilities and to portable transmitters with a rated power output of 8 W or less. C63.24-draft: American National Standard Recommended Practice for In-Situ RF Immunity Evaluation of Products, Instrumentation, and Control Systems in High Reliability Installations

Scope: This Recommended Practice provides an in-situ EMC immunity qualification test for products, instrumentation, and control systems in their installed environment. The standard will focus on installation environments that require a high level of confidence that these products and systems have a high level of EMC immunity. This project will provide a generic method for evaluating the RF immunity of electronic products, instrumentation, and control systems, as and where installed or operated. A particular focus is on immunity to RF sources that may enter the environment, intentionally or unintentionally or be integrated into the operating environment. The characteristics of RF sources in the environment will be used to establish the levels and test methods.

C63.26-draft: American National Standard of procedures for compliance testing of licensed transmitters

Scope: The new standard is intended to cover the procedures for testing a wide variety of licensed transmitters; including but not limited to transmitters operating under Parts 22, 24, 25, 27, 90, 95 and 101 of the FCC Rules, transmitters subject to the general procedures in Part 2 of the FCC Rules and procedures for transmitters not covered in the FCC Rules. The standard will also address specific topics; e.g., ERP/EIRP, average power measurements and instrumentation requirements.
